About The Position

The Laundry Attendant is responsible for processing hotel and guest laundry, including pressing, sorting and folding. Laundry Attendants use commercial pressing and folding equipment and are responsible for programming and logging of their operations. Duties may include ironing sheets, pillowcases, tablecloths, folding towels, sorting soiled linen, loading dryers and distributing linen to various storage areas within the hotel. This industry functions seven (7) days a week, twenty-four (24) hours a day.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED): or Work Equivalent
  • Computer skills required.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office preferred.
  • Good understanding of the English language and communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Previous laundry or housekeeping experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of proper cleaning techniques, requirements and use of equipment.
  • Knowledge of proper chemical handling.

Responsibilities

  • Processing hotel and guest laundry, including pressing, sorting and folding.
  • Using commercial pressing and folding equipment and programming and logging of operations.
  • Ironing sheets, pillowcases, tablecloths, folding towels, sorting soiled linen, loading dryers and distributing linen to various storage areas within the hotel.
  • Maintaining positive guest relations and guest confidentiality.
  • Working to resolve guest complaints, ensuring guest satisfaction.
  • Maintaining complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment.
  • Using equipment only as intended.
  • Using all chemicals in accordance with OSHA regulations and hotel requirements.
  • Assisting with delivery of front desk requests as needed, i.e., rollaways, cribs, towels, etc.
  • Assisting with keeping storage room stocked.
  • Monitoring pool and fitness area.
  • Removing dirty towels and re-stocking towels if needed.
  • Sorting linens, towels, clothing and other laundry items by color, size and material.
  • Wrapping laundry items for pickup or delivery to customers and hospitality guests.
  • Washing items with commercial laundry equipment following proper sanitization protocols.
  • Cleaning and maintaining laundry room area and equipment.
  • Unloading laundry from commercial dryers.
  • Stocking laundry supplies such as detergent, bleach, laundry bags and fabric softener.
  • Assisting in handling emergencies to protect guests and associates and preserve the building and its systems during emergencies.
  • Acting as quickly and responsibly as possible to return the building to its normal operating status.
  • Maintaining knowledge of all hotel features/services, hours of operation, room rates, special packages and promotions, daily house count and expected arrivals/departures and scheduled daily group activities.
  • Being familiar with all local attractions/activities to respond to guest inquiries accurately.
  • Abiding by all departments, Commonwealth Lodging Management and hotel policies and procedures, as well as brand standards, policies and procedures.
