Prepares food in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations, with established policies and procedures. This role involves reviewing menus, preparing meals, ensuring food procedures are followed, and performing administrative tasks related to food services. The position also includes assisting in establishing food service production lines, processing diet changes, preparing appetizing and palatable meals, serving meals on time with portion control, preparing bedtime snacks, and preparing substitute foods. Additionally, the role involves assisting with daily cleaning duties, food preparation for special events, maintaining stock levels, and ensuring the department's equipment and supplies are clean and safe. The Dietary Cook must also treat residents with dignity and respect, promote resident rights, establish a culture of compliance, follow safety and hygiene measures, maintain confidentiality, report noncompliance and potential violations, protect residents from abuse, report occupational exposures, participate in emergency drills, and report work-related injuries. As a condition of employment, all assigned training and skills competency must be completed. The role requires maintaining food storage areas, assisting with inventory and storage, ensuring food and supplies are readily available, and recommending equipment and supply needs.
