Requirements

  • Previous cooking experience in a healthcare, skilled nursing, rehabilitation, or food service setting preferred
  • Knowledge of therapeutic and modified diets is a plus
  • Current Food Handler's Certification or ability to obtain upon hire
  • Understanding of food safety and sanitation regulations
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality
  • Positive attitude and team-oriented approach

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook meals according to approved menus, recipes, and dietary guidelines
  • Ensure meals meet residents' nutritional requirements and physician-ordered diets
  • Modify food preparation to accommodate special dietary needs, including diabetic, low-sodium, and texture-modified diets
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, infection control, and workplace safety standards
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen environment
  • Properly store, label, and rotate food items to ensure freshness and compliance
  • Assist with inventory management and communicate supply needs to leadership
  • Support meal service operations and ensure proper portion control
  • Collaborate with dietary staff and interdisciplinary team members to provide excellent resident care
