Prepares food in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations, with established policies and procedures. This role involves reviewing menus, preparing meals, working with the Dietitian/Director of Food Services, and performing administrative tasks such as completing necessary forms and reports. The position also includes assisting in establishing food service production lines, processing diet changes, preparing appetizing and palatable meals, serving meals on time, preparing bedtime snacks, and assisting with cleaning duties and special meal preparations. The cook is responsible for maintaining adequate stock levels of food and supplies, treating residents with dignity and respect, promoting resident rights, and adhering to all facility policies, procedures, and regulations. Safety, hygiene, and confidentiality of protected health information are paramount. The role requires participation in emergency drills and reporting of any occupational exposures or work-related injuries. Maintaining a clean and organized work environment, including food storage areas and equipment, is essential. The cook may also be involved in inventorying and storing incoming food and supplies, and recommending equipment and supply needs.
