About The Position

The Dietary Aide participates as needed in preparing and serving appetizing, nourishing, well-balanced meals that meet each resident’s daily nutritional and special dietary needs. The role also assists with dishwashing and cleaning tasks, food preparation, meal and tray assembly, and food service setup. The position is scheduled for 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Requirements

• Basic understanding of nutrition and therapeutic diets.
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
• Understanding of person-centered care.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables.
• Ability to interpret written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule-form instructions.
• Working knowledge of and ability to apply professional standards of practice in job situations.

Nice To Haves

• One year of experience in an institutional food service setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Handle and store food according to facility procedures and safe food handling guidelines.
• Assist with food preparation as assigned by the supervisor.
• Prepare food items according to standardized recipes and follow safe food handling practices.
• Use food supplies and equipment efficiently and economically to prevent waste.
• Operate institutional food preparation and cleaning equipment, including the dish machine, according to manufacturer and supervisory direction.
• Follow proper cleaning and preventative maintenance schedules.
• Assist with setup of the food tray line or buffet dining.
• Assemble meals and trays for residents according to facility procedures.
• Assist with dishwashing and cleaning tasks.
• Help prepare and serve meals that meet residents’ nutritional and special dietary needs.
