About The Position

The Café Assistant supports daily café operations by assisting with food preparation, customer service, sanitation, and general kitchen duties. This role helps ensure a clean, safe, and efficient environment while delivering a positive experience for customers. This position works Monday–Friday, starting time is 7 AM, with rotating weekends and holidays. The starting wage is $16 per hour.

Requirements

Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, to interact with customers, coworkers, and supervisors
Basic math skills, including the ability to handle cash transactions, make changes, and reconcile a cash drawer accurately
Strong customer service skills with a friendly, approachable demeanor and a willingness to assist others
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment while maintaining attention to detail
Willingness to learn new tasks, follow instructions, and adapt to changing priorities
Ability to communicate and collaborate with coworkers and other departments in a professional and respectful manner
Strong organizational and time management skills to complete tasks within established timelines

Responsibilities

Assist with basic food preparation and cooking tasks following established recipes and food safety guidelines
Receive, store, and organize kitchen inventory and supplies
Operate cash registers, process payments, and reconcile cash drawers
Support food service setup, including steam tables and salad bars, and assist with service and cleanup
Clean and sanitize tables, workstations, and kitchen equipment
Maintain kitchen cleanliness and adhere to sanitation and safety standards
Prepare items and workstations for the next day’s operations
Always provide courteous and professional customer service
Collaborate effectively with team members and other departments
Perform other duties as assigned
