About The Position

Apple Rehab Avon is seeking a Dietary Aide for its family-oriented, 60-bed skilled nursing and short-term rehabilitation facility in Avon, Connecticut. The role supports meal and snack preparation, maintains clean dining and work areas, helps manage food and supply storage, and interacts with residents to support a positive dining experience. The Dietary Aide follows infection-control, safety, sanitation, and food-handling requirements and reports safety or sanitation concerns to a supervisor. The posting describes the opportunity as per diem, part-time, with approximately 7 hours of work weekly.

Requirements

Ability to walk, bend, lift, push, pull, turn, stoop, and stretch.
Ability to unload and stock groceries on shelves of varying heights and lift large items weighing up to 50 pounds.
Ability to write and record data, and read and follow oral and written instructions in English.
Ability to remain calm and work efficiently during emergencies.
Ability to communicate professionally with residents, staff, and family members.

Responsibilities

Assist with preparing meals and snacks, ensuring work is completed accurately and on time.
Help clean dining areas and maintain a pleasant, hygienic environment for residents.
Assist with receiving, organizing, storing, and rotating food and other supplies according to established guidelines.
Interact with residents and offer assistance to create a positive dining experience.
Maintain clean work areas and wash dishes, pans, and utensils in accordance with sanitation standards.
Follow infection-control, safety, and sanitation protocols.
Keep food storage areas and workspaces clean and safe, and promptly report safety or sanitation violations to a supervisor.
Handle food in accordance with sanitary regulations.
