About The Position

The Server is responsible for courteously serving resident and guest meals, and for clean-up and resetting of dining room following meal service. Assists residents when placing orders from the menu, provides beverage service, and has a basic understanding of food preparation. The role requires attentiveness to residents' special needs, including mobility deficits and memory impairment, and adherence to confidentiality policies. The Server must maintain a clean uniform and good personal hygiene, and be able to perform tasks requiring physical stamina and organization.

Requirements

  • Must be in clean designated uniform during working hours.
  • Must maintain good personal hygiene.
  • Must be able to read and follow simple instructions.
  • Must possess ability to perform simple, repetitive tasks.
  • Must be able to learn quickly and apply learned principles.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively.
  • Must be able to work under close supervision.
  • Must be able to bend, reach, grasp, push and pull objects.
  • Must be able to stand and walk for sustained periods up to three (3) hours at a time.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs on a regular basis and carry heavy objects for 20 feet.
  • Must be organized.
  • Must be willing to work well with other team members.
  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule that includes evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Serve resident and guest meals courteously.
  • Clean and reset the dining room after meal service.
  • Assist residents with menu orders.
  • Provide beverage service (water, iced tea, juices, milk, coffee/tea).
  • Refill salt/pepper/sugar bowls before and after each meal.
  • Report broken equipment or tableware to supervisor.
  • Understand sit-down service and proper serving techniques.
  • Have a basic understanding of food preparation (salads, desserts, etc.).
  • Know proper food storage and labeling techniques.
  • Sweep, mop, and vacuum kitchen and dining room.
  • Attend required in-services and staff meetings.
  • Complete all other assigned duties.
  • Be attentive to special needs of residents (mobility deficits, memory impairment, etc.).
  • Assist with tray service.
  • Follow confidentiality policies regarding resident information.
  • Interact politely and considerately with residents, guests, co-workers, and supervisors.
