About The Position

Follows clearly defined nutritional procedures to provide support to Clinical Dieticians, physicians and other health care providers with implementation and monitoring of medical nutrition therapy (MNT), including nutrition education, assessment and treatment. Collects patient data and information to understand patients' needs and create menus that support their plan of care. Exercises sound judgment, and developed clinical skills to guide individuals, families, or caregivers in food selection, preparation, or menu planning, based upon nutritional needs and established guidelines. Gains confidence and cooperation from the patient, their family/support group, and other healthcare providers through competent patient assessment, attentive monitoring and care, and effective communication. Adheres to all local/state/federal regulations, codes, policies and procedures to ensure privacy and safety while delivering optimal patient care.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in Dietetics, Nutrition or related field from an accredited program or equivalent education/experience
  • 1 year recent relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of various nutritional diets, principles, procedures, views, and equipment used in the treatment of patients with varying disorders.
  • Capable of performing routine nutritional therapy as well as a basic understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology.
  • Possess written and verbal communications skills to explain sensitive information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences, including non-medical people.
  • Well-developed time management and organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize assignments and work within standardized operating procedures and scientific methods to achieve objectives and meet deadlines.
  • General knowledge of computer applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and Outlook), electronic health records (EHR).
  • Interpret a variety of data and instructions, furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Prioritize assignments and work within standardized policies, procedures, and scientific methods to achieve objectives and meet deadlines.
  • Work independently, as well as be part of the team, including accomplishing multiple tasks in an environment with interruptions.
  • Identify, evaluate and resolve standard problems by selecting appropriate solutions from established options.
  • Ensure the privacy of each patient’s protected health information (PHI).
  • Build collaborative relationships with peers and other healthcare providers to achieve departmental and corporate objectives.
