About The Position

In accordance with the Mission and Guiding Behaviors, the Diet Clerk performs clerical and administrative duties in support of patients, clinical dietitian, and patient meal services. The Diet Clerk functions in the spirit of teamwork and is accountable for communications according to the standards, policies, procedures, and guidelines of the organization.

Requirements

  • High school Graduate or equivalent highly preferred.
  • Must know how to read, write and speak English.
  • Knowledgeable in Basic Computer Skills

Nice To Haves

  • Additional college training in Dietetics or related field preferred.
  • Previous health care experience or demonstrated knowledge of dietetics and medical terminology preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Visits all patients as assigned assisting the patient or family member with menu selections.
  • Responds to patient needs and requests in a timely manner.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality.
  • Communicates pertinent clinical information to the Clinical Dietitian and appropriate members of the patient care team.
  • Establishes and maintains strong positive communication with patients and families.
  • Checks patient tray tickets against electronic medical record to ensure that tray ticket is accurate and consistent with diet order and patient preferences.
