About The Position

The Diet Clerk will be responsible for maintaining accurate dietary records of residents, ensuring meals are prepared according to their specific dietary needs and restrictions, and collaborating with dieticians in regard to resident meals. The Diet Clerk collects, maintains, and communicates data about the residents’ dietary requirements.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures.
  • Basic understanding of nutrition and dietary principles
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with residents, staff, and families
  • Proficiency with computer systems
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to meet acceptable background check standards.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as appropriate.

Nice To Haves

  • Dietetic Technician, Registered (DTR)
  • Experience in a healthcare setting

Responsibilities

  • Checks and separates all resident meal tickets to ensure all necessary components include protein, vegetables, starch, and dessert.
  • Attaches meal tickets to designated bin.
  • Identifies any potential allergies and dietary restrictions.
  • Updates allergy list and labels as needed.
  • Inputs new menu for seasonal changes, special events, and holidays in NetMenu.
  • Refers to NetMenu for correct diet/accuracy.
  • Delivers the next week of the menu cycle to each unit.
  • Prepares breakfast, lunch, and dinner tallies for hot production, cold production, and salad preparation.
  • Adjusts any changes to meals as necessary.
  • Answers phone calls, including taking requests for residents to select second-choice meals.
  • Makes temporary and permanent changes in diets and nourishments.
  • Refers to Net Menu for correct diet/accuracy.
  • Prepares call downs during mealtimes.
  • Prepares snack bags and juices as needed.
  • Checks emails for incoming changes to resident preferences from Dieticians and adds them to the Net menu as needed.
  • Reprint tickets and change net menus when doctors' orders come in.
  • Monitors NPO orders as needed.
  • Checks tray line as needed.
  • Provides kitchen assistance as needed.
  • Takes daycare orders over the phone for lunch and handles changed tickets accordingly.
  • Maintains a working relationship with other employees and staff.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned by supervisors.
