About The Position

This role involves assisting with various aspects of food service within a facility, ensuring that meals are prepared, served, and cleaned up according to established policies and procedures. The Diet Aide will work closely with the facility's dietitian and cook, maintaining cleanliness and safety in the dietary department, and ensuring that all dietary guidelines and infection control protocols are followed.

Requirements

  • Ability to work with the facility's dietitian and implement recommended changes.
  • Ability to assist in serving meals and adhere to portion control.
  • Ability to perform cleaning duties, including sweeping, mopping, and sanitizing equipment.
  • Ability to carry soiled utensils and wash/clean them.
  • Ability to set up meal trays, food carts, and dining rooms.
  • Ability to assist the cook in meal preparation.
  • Ability to distribute and collect menus.
  • Ability to obtain food supplies.
  • Ability to check diet trays.
  • Ability to deliver food carts and trays.
  • Ability to perform dishwashing procedures.
  • Ability to prepare and deliver snacks.
  • Knowledge of and adherence to dietary procedures, Infection Control, and Universal Precautions.
  • Ability to maintain a clean and safe department environment.
  • Ability to report hazardous conditions and accidents.
  • Ability to maintain food storage areas.
  • Ability to dispose of food and waste properly.
  • Ability to report missing/illegible labels or MSDSs.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the facility's dietitian and implement recommended changes.
  • Assist in serving meals on a timely basis and in accordance with portion control procedures.
  • Perform daily or scheduled cleaning duties, including cleaning work tables, meat blocks, refrigerators/freezers, sweeping and mopping floors.
  • Carry soiled utensils to the wash area and return clean utensils to proper storage.
  • Wash and clean utensils as directed.
  • Carry out garbage and maintain clean, dry, and safe work areas.
  • Set up meal trays, food carts, and dining rooms.
  • Assist the cook in preparing meals.
  • Distribute and collect menus.
  • Obtain food supplies for the next meal.
  • Assist in checking diet trays before distribution.
  • Deliver food carts, trays, etc., to designated areas.
  • Perform dishwashing and cleaning procedures, ensuring utensils are available for the next meal.
  • Remove food trays and take them to the dishwashing area.
  • Prepare and deliver snacks as instructed.
  • Ensure all dietary procedures are followed in accordance with established policies.
  • Follow established Infection Control and Universal Precautions policies and procedures.
  • Ensure the department is clean and safe by maintaining necessary equipment and supplies.
  • Report all hazardous conditions/equipment and accidents to the supervisor immediately.
  • Assist in maintaining food storage areas in a clean and properly arranged manner.
  • Ensure food and supplies for the next meal are readily available.
  • Dispose of food and waste in accordance with established policies.
  • Report missing/illegible labels or MSDSs to the supervisor.
  • Assist in food preparation for special meals and parties.
