About The Position

Area Storage & Transfer, Inc., a family-owned company with over 30 years of experience working with the United States Postal Service, is seeking a highly skilled Diesel/Trailer Mechanic to lead their shop operations. This role reports directly to the Fleet Director and is ideal for a hands-on leader who excels in a fast-paced environment and takes pride in their work and leadership.

Requirements

Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License.
Considerable knowledge of safety practices and techniques in diesel truck and trailer maintenance and repair.
Considerable knowledge of diesel engine operation and repair.
Considerable knowledge of trailer repair.
Basic computer skills.
Ability to communicate both orally and in writing.

ASE certification a plus (but not required)

Responsibilities

Oversee daily shop operations and workflow.
Diagnose and repair diesel engines, electrical systems, and drivetrains.
Perform preventive maintenance on tractors and trailers to ensure compliance with FMCSA, federal and state regulations.
Train, mentor, and support junior mechanics.
Maintain parts inventory and maintenance equipment.
Weld, replace parts, repair parts, repair electrical systems, diagnose vehicles for minor body and fender work, perform tune-ups and troubleshoot problems when needed.
Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records for the fleet using fleet software eMaint.
Enter DVIR’s into eMaint for repair orders and check to make sure repair work was performed for completeness.
Ensure all equipment has necessary paperwork and licenses to operate legally.
