About The Position

Hopkinsville Community College is seeking a Diesel Technology Instructor to effectively teach and coordinate Diesel Technology courses and serve as the program coordinator. This role is responsible for program effectiveness, including student learning outcomes, continuous review, assessment, and development. The instructor will create and actively engage in academic initiatives within the diesel technology sector, including credential audits and apprenticeship relationships. They will also be involved in the ongoing evaluation, development, and enhancement of Diesel Technology offerings, and develop a strategic plan for program improvement, including scheduling, recruitment, advising, and advisory board effectiveness. Maintaining community relations and overseeing an active advisory council are key aspects of this position. The role also involves participating in academic and student enhancement activities, advising students, and maintaining/improving competence through professional development. Internal and external service activities, such as college committees and community relations, are also expected.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of medium/heavy diesel experience.
  • Must be ASE certified in either of the following areas: Master Medium/Heavy Truck Technician or Master School Bus Technician.
  • The applicant must be willing to obtain Master Automobile Technician within 1 year.
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality instruction, student learning, and instructional and institutional effectiveness.
  • Demonstrated effective technology skills, communication skills (written and verbal), and organizational and human relations skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the comprehensive community college concept and team management.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the KCTCS/Hopkinsville Community College strategic plan.

Responsibilities

  • Effectively teach and coordinate Diesel Technology courses and serve as the program coordinator.
  • Responsible for program effectiveness, including student learning outcomes, continuous review, assessment, and development.
  • Create and actively engage all areas of the diesel technology sector’s academic initiatives to include any credential audits and apprenticeship relationships within the community.
  • Provide for and be actively involved in on-going evaluations, development, and enhancement of Diesel Technology offerings.
  • Develop strategic plan for improving the diesel technology program to include scheduling, recruitment efforts to draw students into the diesel technology program offerings, advising, and advisory board effectiveness.
  • Maintain community relations within the service area, and oversee an active advisory council for the Diesel Technology Program.
  • Participate in academic and student enhancement activities, including student advising.
  • Maintain and improve, through professional development, competence in discipline knowledge and instructional techniques.
  • Participate in internal and external service activities (college committees, system committees, community relations).
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
