Diesel Technician- 2nd Shift

Requirements
- Two years' verifiable experience in tractor and trailer inspection and repair OR a technical school degree, or certification in Heavy Duty Truck/Trailer Maintenance with one verifiable experience.
- A valid state-issued driver's license.
- Must pass DOT physical and drug screen.
- Command of English language to communicate effectively with internal and external customers.
- Knowledge of methods, materials, tools and techniques used in the repair and maintain a variety of heavy trucks and semi-trailers and other mechanical equipment is required.
- Basic hand tools are required.
- Must have working knowledge of the operating principles of diesel engines and repair of heavy trucks.
- Ability to maintain detailed time and parts used on work orders.
- Must possess excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to communicate to both internal and external customers.
- Computer skills needed for diagnostics.
- Must consent to the use of driver-facing event recorders in our fleet to promote the safety of our employees and the public.
Nice To Haves
- A CDL, ASE and State and/or Federal inspection certification is preferred but not required.
Responsibilities
- Diagnoses, troubleshoots, and repairs fleet equipment safely and correctly.
- Conducts failure analysis, repairs, and rebuilds fleet equipment components correctly.
- Informs management about housekeeping opportunities, harmful working conditions, and unsafe work practices, and suggests corrective actions.
- Identifies and informs management of broken tools and missing supplies required for performing repairs on fleet equipment, and takes steps to solve issue if possible.
- Correctly completes work orders and documents.
- Maintains a clean and safe work environment to ensure safety and compliance.
- Complies with company policies, procedures, and standards of ethics and integrity.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Operate and inspect mechanical equipment to diagnose defects.
- Analyze malfunctions and perform general overhaul, tune up or preventive maintenance of equipment.
- Dismantle and reassemble equipment.
- Plan work procedure using charges, technical manuals and experience.
- Enter labor lines and parts into repair order computer system.
- Travel to other company shop locations when staff is needed.
- React to change productivity and handle other essential tasks as assigned.
