About The Position

Carvana is seeking an experienced Diesel Technician to join its Fleet Maintenance team and maintain a safe, reliable fleet of primarily Class 8 day cabs and trailers. The fleet is under manufacturer warranty, so the role does not involve major engine overhauls or roadside calls. Compensation is $24–$36 per hour, with a $2,000–$4,000 sign-on bonus advertised in the job title and overtime opportunities.

Requirements

At least 3 years of experience with heavy-duty Class 8 trucks and trailers or similar equipment, such as agricultural, construction, or waste collection vehicles.
Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills for diesel engines, transmissions, and vehicle systems.
Proficiency with diagnostic software and using a laptop to access manuals.
Experience with aftertreatment systems and electrical diagnostics.
Obtain at least two ASE certifications within the first 6 months of employment.
Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
Ability to perform physical tasks associated with vehicle maintenance, including lifting and bending.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
Solid attendance record and punctuality.
At least 18 years of age.
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
Hiring is contingent on passing a background check and drug test.

Nice To Haves

Comfort with MIG welding.
T-series ASE certifications are highly valued.

Responsibilities

Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and component replacements on Class 8 trucks and trailers.
Use diagnostic tools and software to troubleshoot electrical, engine, and transmission problems.
Repair aftertreatment systems, including DEF and emissions systems; perform regens and change filters.
Maintain accurate records and collaborate with the team to optimize vehicle performance and minimize downtime.
Follow safety protocols and industry best practices to keep the fleet DOT compliant.
