About The Position

Ryder is hiring a Mid-Level Diesel Technician in Goodlettsville, Tennessee. The position performs maintenance and repair work on heavy-duty vehicles and provides a stable career path, weekly pay, training, and opportunities for advancement. The schedule is Tuesday through Saturday, second shift, from 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. The hourly pay is $27.00, with a $100 bonus for each new ASE certification obtained, up to $700, and a quarterly bonus of up to $500. Ryder provides state-of-the-art diagnostic tools and equipment. The role requires driving Ryder vehicles and requires the employee to obtain a CDL within six months of hire and pass required drug, DOT physical, road, background, and motor vehicle checks.

Requirements

Basic tools are required.
Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventive maintenance such as oil changes, brake work, and tire work.
Must be able to obtain a CDL within six months after hire.
Must pass a Ryder drug test, DOT physical, and Ryder road test.
Must pass Ryder background and motor vehicle checks, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last three years.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Vocational or technical certification, post-secondary degree, or technical certifications preferred.
Two or more years of combined classroom training and work experience preferred.
Valid Class A Commercial Driver License (CDL) preferred.

Responsibilities

Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties.
Perform standard vehicle maintenance.
Perform standard component inspections and repairs.
Perform preventive maintenance.
Diagnose standard mechanical and electronic problems, using a diagnostic computer when applicable.
Identify root causes of basic failures or conditions and perform repairs as required.
Replace defective components as instructed.
Perform facility maintenance duties.
Interact with customers and drivers to determine the nature of a complaint once assigned a task.
Use key functions of the Shop Management System and available electronic documentation.
Work in accordance with applicable federal, provincial, and corporate compliance guidelines, including safety, DOT, and MOT.
Perform other support duties as required to support operations, which may include Service Island support.
