About The Position

This role involves performing preventative maintenance and safety inspections on diesel equipment. The technician will be proficient in diagnosing and repairing electrical systems, refrigeration systems, pneumatic systems, brakes, and drive trains. A key aspect of the position is planning, coaching, and facilitating skill development of other technicians through task assignment and work planning, as well as monitoring shop work quality and providing coaching. The technician will also be responsible for cleaning and maintaining maintenance facilities, adhering to federal, state, and Company regulations, policies, and procedures, and maintaining maintenance records. Additional duties may be assigned by departmental supervision.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree or some college or completion of technical training or certification and two years’ experience in motor coach maintenance.
  • Directly related work experience which demonstrates technical knowledge may be considered in lieu of formal education.
  • CFC and brake inspector certification is required.
  • Demonstrated experience supervising employees, seasonal and fulltime.
  • Effective as a mentor and trainer in shop.
  • Current Alaska Driver’s license with Commercial Driver's License endorsement required. (May be obtained through Company training course).
  • Suitable driving record required.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug test and will become a part of the random drug test pool.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States.
  • Proficiency in the use of computer business applications, with working knowledge of computerized maintenance inventory and laptop diagnostics.
  • Ability to prioritize work, establish and meet deadlines, maintain an attention to accuracy and details while working in a team environment.
  • Ability to communicate clearly verbally and written to employees and management.
  • Proficiency in reading electric and pneumatic schematics, maintenance literature, and parts diagrams.

Responsibilities

  • Routinely performs preventative maintenance and safety inspections.
  • Diagnoses and repairs electrical systems, refrigeration systems, pneumatic systems, brakes, and drive trains.
  • Plans, coaches, and facilitates skill development of technicians through task assignment and work planning.
  • Monitors shop work quality and coaches technicians when needed.
  • Cleans and maintains maintenance facilities and areas according to established Company standards.
  • Applies federal, state, and Company regulations, policies, and procedures to all tasks.
  • Maintains maintenance records in the appropriate logs.
  • Performs maintenance duties required by departmental supervision.
