About The Position

We are looking for highly driven, mechanically inclined individuals passionate about developing a career as Heavy Equipment or Electric Power Generation technician to join the Milton CAT Diesel Technician Trainee program! The Diesel Technician Training program has a set start date in January 2027, and we are hiring now for a limited number of trainee spots. Applications will be accepted from now through mid-November. We plan to begin our application review process in October. This is a paid training program. Starting pay rate for Trainees hired is $28.22/hr.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED required
Strong adherence to safety
Strong customer service skills
Strong problem-solving skills
Strong communication skills
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted
Solid mechanical aptitude with a desire to learn and ability to adapt
Proficient in the use of computer technology (laptop and related software systems)
Clean and valid driver’s license required

Nice To Haves

1+ years of experience servicing heavy equipment, or equivalent education in automotive/diesel/related mechanical vocational program strongly preferred

Responsibilities

Complete 2,000 hours of intensive training across a 12-month period, including 1,600 hours of hands-on, on-the-job training and 450 hours of instructor-led training and computer-based learning.
Rotate through a variety of technical areas within facilities and work with experienced Caterpillar technicians.
Participate in regional travel every other month to attend on-site orientations and training classes at the corporate facility in Massachusetts.
Complete an online application to be considered for the program.
Participate in an interview process.
Upon successful completion of the Diesel Technician Trainee program, have the opportunity to be offered a full-time technician position at any Milton CAT or Milton Rents location.
