About The Position

Truckway is hiring an entry-level Apprentice Diesel Mechanic in Columbus, Ohio. The role is intended for someone starting a career in diesel mechanics, including students in a diesel program or graduating seniors. The apprentice will learn from experienced technicians while helping repair and maintain commercial trucks and trailers.

The work involves Class 6, 7, and 8 trucks and trailers, routine maintenance, customer and fleet support, and using diagnostic software to identify problems. The position requires physical shop work and the ability to work independently after learning the job. On-site training is provided.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; seniors graduating this year are welcome to apply.
• Clean driving record (MVR).
• Attention to detail and pride in doing the job right.
• Self-motivation and professionalism.
• Ability to stay focused in a fast-paced shop.
• Team spirit and commitment to customers and coworkers.
• Basic computer skills for entering jobs and logging time.
• Ability to work independently after learning the job.
• Ability to sit, stand, stoop, and kneel for extended periods; reach with arms and hands; and lift up to 50 pounds.

Nice To Haves

• A commercial driver's license (CDL) is welcome but not required.

Responsibilities

• Repair and maintain Class 6, 7, and 8 trucks and trailers.
