About The Position

Interstate Waste Services is hiring an experienced Diesel Technician to maintain and repair diesel trucks and heavy equipment. The role supports a fleet that keeps company operations running safely and efficiently. It is a union position on an overnight schedule, Monday through Friday, from 2:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Requirements

• At least 3 years of diesel mechanic experience.
• Computer diagnostic experience.
• Experience repairing heavy-duty trucks and equipment.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Commitment to safety and quality workmanship.

Nice To Haves

• Waste industry experience.
• Heavy equipment or “yellow iron” experience.
• Trade school certification or technical training.
• Experience maintaining refuse trucks, roll-offs, and heavy fleet equipment.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair diesel engines and major vehicle systems.
• Troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic, brake, suspension, and air systems.
• Perform preventive maintenance inspections (PMIs).
• Rebuild and replace major components.
• Use computer diagnostics to identify and resolve issues.
• Complete maintenance records and work orders using fleet software.
• Conduct vehicle safety inspections.
• Respond to equipment breakdowns and service calls.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and OSHA-compliant shop.
• Follow company safety standards and procedures.
