About The Position

This internship position involves inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing various vehicle systems including brakes, engines, electrical components, steering, transmissions, drive trains, and tires for tractors, trailers, and refrigeration equipment. The role also includes performing preventative maintenance services and establishing positive working relationships. The intern will maintain regular attendance and perform other assigned duties.

Requirements

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Extensive knowledge of all aspects of vehicle repair
• Excellent mechanical repair skills
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to visually diagnose mechanical issues
• Ability to read service and repair manuals
• Ability to perform repairs in a timely fashion
• Ability to read work orders
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
• Must be able to work safely in a noisy area with many odors present
• Ability to regularly lift 50 lbs. and occasionally lift up to 100lbs.
• Must be able to inspect the vehicle to determine repairs needed
• Good vision to inspect repair work
• Must be able to bend, stretch, kneel, and squat to perform repairs and inspections
• Safety shoes (steel or composite toe) required

Nice To Haves

• Enrolled in an accredited university/college program and actively pursuing a degree in Diesel Technology.

Responsibilities

• Inspects, diagnoses, and repairs brake systems, engines, electrical components, steering systems, transmissions, drive trains, and tires for tractors, trailers, and refrigeration equipment.
• Performs preventative maintenance services, including changing oil, checking fluids, inspecting batteries, testing lights, and lubricating equipment.
• Establishes and maintains positive working relationships.
• Maintains regular and predictable attendance.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
