About The Position

Waste Pro is seeking a skilled Diesel A Mechanic for their Pompano Beach location. This role involves advanced knowledge and ability to diagnose and repair various components and systems of heavy-duty and light-duty trucks, including gasoline, diesel, and CNG systems. The position may also involve welding and fabrication. The Diesel Tech A will report to the Maintenance Supervisor and be responsible for diagnostics, maintenance, and repair of a fleet of refuse and recycling vehicles, including brands like Mack, IHC, Autocar, Heil, and McNeilus. The role requires adherence to safety policies, maintaining a clean work area, utilizing vehicle computer electronics, and conducting safety checks. The company emphasizes teamwork, a challenging work environment, and working with various truck types and alternative fuel fleets (CNG, LPG, Hybrid).

Requirements

  • Ability to provide Drive Train Inspections, Diagnosis and Repair
  • Ability to provide General Engine Inspection, Diagnosis and Repair
  • Ability to provide Transmission Inspection, Diagnosis and Repair
  • Ability to Perform Outside Repair Inspection Review
  • Ability to Assess Structural Damage and assign needed repairs
  • Ability to provide assistance, guidance and direction to all shop technicians
  • 3-5 years of hands on technical experience in the maintenance and repair of medium duty class 8 vehicles and equipment.
  • Clear understanding of OSHA safety requirements for vehicle fleets
  • Ability to utilize computers for data tracking, communication etc. (dossier, Microsoft office).

Nice To Haves

  • CDL Class B preferred or the ability to obtain a CDL license
  • Preferably with waste/recycling industry experience

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair engine, transmission, brake, suspension, electrical, hydraulic, body components and systems related to heavy duty and light duty trucks.
  • Perform maintenance and repair of all aspects of Mack, IHC, Autocar, Heil, McNeilus vehicles and equipment.
  • Support coworkers in working safely and efficiently in the maintenance and repair of fleet of vehicles and equipment.
  • Complete all required paperwork in a timely and concise manner.
  • Follow all safety policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards.
  • Utilize vehicle computer electronics systems to interpret failure modes to initiate or assign repairs.
  • Conduct safety checks on vehicles and equipment.
  • Conduct repairs utilizing Factory Service Manuals.
  • Maintain a high standard of Ethics and Dependability.
