About The Position

We are seeking a highly skilled and hands-on Diesel Shop Supervisor to lead our second-shift maintenance operations in Gaithersburg, MD. This position combines strong diesel mechanic expertise with front-line supervisory responsibilities by providing direct leadership for technicians. Manages work flow and assigns tasks. As a working supervisor, you will provide leadership and technical guidance to a team of 6 technicians, ensuring timely and high-quality maintenance and repair of a fleet of approximately 70 vehicles. This role requires the ability to balance administrative duties with active participation in diagnostics and repairs. This is a 2nd shift position, with a start time between 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM with rotating Saturdays.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED (accredited)
4 years years of relevant work experience. (in addition to education requirements)
Valid Driver's License

Responsibilities

Oversees the day-to-day operations of employees in the maintenance shop.
Coordinates and supervises all maintenance work and repairs, and monitors progress and quality.
Reviews driver repairs and other maintenance requests and prepares work order documents.
Performs mechanical duties as needed.
Monitors inventory of replacement parts and restocks as needed.
Oversees personnel including coaching, training, evaluating employee performance, and conducting disciplinary action as needed. Provides input into termination, compensation, and promotion decisions.
Interprets and ensures consistent application of organizational policies and safety regulations.
Creates and submits reports as necessary.
