About The Position

Valkyrie Enterprises is seeking a Planner Estimator familiar with naval machine systems and the repair of shipboard machinery and components. The position is based in Norfolk, Virginia, and supports ship repair, maintenance, modernization, and overhaul planning. The Planner Estimator assesses ship material condition using ship-check data, ship documents, and technical information; defines repair and modification requirements; and prepares work specifications, schedules, procurement lists, and detailed labor and material cost estimates. The role works with shipboard machinery including marine diesel engines, diesel generators, steam turbines, propulsion machinery, refrigeration and air-conditioning systems, air compressors, pumps, and related electro-hydraulic equipment. The position requires interpreting Navy, shipbuilder, manufacturer, and commercial technical information, including drawings, manuals, and equipment data. The Planner Estimator conducts ship checks and inspections, validates requirements on site, writes and reviews Depot-level 4E specifications, and supports corrective actions for equipment failures and casualties. The role also maintains cost-estimating guidance and machinery knowledge-base data, and develops technical reports, recommendations, planning documents, and correspondence. The candidate must meet the education and experience pathway described in the posting, have relevant Naval Marine Engineering experience and technical writing skills, and be a U.S. citizen. The position requires eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret clearance and may require additional screening for base access. Occasional travel of 10% or less is expected. Physical duties include lifting, carrying, and transporting at least 30 pounds, climbing ship ladders, and working in extreme temperatures, shipyards, industrial conditions, aboard ships, and confined spaces. Valkyrie Enterprises offers medical, dental, and vision options; company-paid life and disability insurance; a 401(k) with match; education reimbursement; company-paid holidays; and paid time off.
