Requirements

  • Working knowledge of shop equipment such as wheel and tire equipment, alignment system, diagnostic equipment, AC equipment, etc.
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • ASE Certification required
  • B level qualifications, including Diagnostic, Electrical and Engine Repair
  • Dexterity, requiring a steady hand and excellent hand-eye coordination
  • Mechanical and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to operate electronic diagnostic equipment
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Basic computer competencies
  • Positive, friendly attitude, along with an eagerness to improve
  • Ability to learn new technology, repair and service procedures and specifications
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years of Service Technician experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform work specified on maintenance and repair orders on Diesel Vehicles with efficiency and in accordance with dealership standards.
  • Diagnose and repair vehicle automotive systems including engine, transmission, electrical, steering, suspension, braking, and air conditioning to specification.
  • Provide labor and time estimates for additional automotive repairs.
  • Explain diesel mechanical diagnoses and required repairs in a non-technical manner to service advisors and customers.
  • Continuously learn new technical information and techniques through formal training sessions to stay updated with rapidly changing technology.
  • Inspect and test new vehicles and record findings for necessary repairs.
  • Test-drive vehicles and test components and systems using diagnostic tools and special service equipment.
  • Communicate directly with the Service Advisor to keep customers informed of any additional service needed and provide time estimates for additional repairs.
  • Execute repairs under warranty to manufacturer specifications.
