About The Position

County Waste & Recycling has an immediate opening for a Diesel Mechanic to join their growing team at their site in Montgomery, NY. This role is responsible for performing repairs and inspections, safety checks, diagnosis and repair of electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake and air systems on diesel vehicles. The mechanic will utilize vehicle computer electrical systems to interpret failure modes, respond to road calls for emergency repairs, review driver inspection reports, and complete required paperwork using fleet maintenance software. The position also involves test driving trucks after services and repairs, assisting team members, interacting professionally with drivers, and maintaining a clean and safe work area in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards. The company is an integrated services company providing solid waste collection, transfer, disposal, and recycling services.

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of proven experience in the field as an automotive or diesel mechanic.
• Proficiency in a variety of diesel vehicle diagnostic tools, preventative maintenance and repair.
• Basic tool set

Nice To Haves

• Hydraulic experience is a plus

Responsibilities

• Perform repairs and inspections, safety checks, diagnosis and repair of electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake and air systems on diesel vehicles.
• Utilize vehicle computer electrical systems to interpret failure modes to identify and adjust Engine and Vehicle Control modules
• Respond to road calls for emergency repairs
• Reviewing, Completing or assigning repairs identified on driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.
• Completing required paperwork utilizing fleet maintenance software programs.
• Test driving trucks after services and repairs
• Helping other team members with repairs as needed
• Having professional and courteous interactions with our drivers when needed.
• Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards.
• Perform other miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
