The Diesel Mechanic performs preventative maintenance on a tractor trailer fleet. This role involves basic inspections, preventive maintenance on various vehicles and equipment, and diagnosis and repair of tractors, including brakes, suspension, and transmissions. The position also includes body repair such as welding, fueling company equipment, maintaining a clean work area, and recording maintenance information in a computer system. Safety adherence to MDI, state, and federal guidelines is crucial. The role requires the ability to bend, stoop, stretch, and lift up to 100 lbs, operate a trailer yard spotter, be on call as needed, and change truck and trailer tires. Additional tasks may be assigned as needed.
