About The Position

Magnolia Plumbing, Inc.’s Laurel-based office is seeking a knowledgeable and experienced Diesel Mechanic to join our team. The Diesel Mechanic will be responsible for maintaining and repairing Magnolia’s fleet of commercial vehicles, vacuum/scavenger trucks, diesel engines, work vans, SUVs, and sedans. This role plays an important part in ensuring our vehicles and equipment remain safe, reliable, and ready to support daily operations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a diesel mechanic, fleet mechanic, or heavy equipment mechanic.
  • Experience diagnosing and repairing diesel engines and commercial vehicles.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, brake, suspension, and drivetrain systems.
  • Experience working on trucks, trailers, utility vehicles, or construction equipment preferred.
  • Ability to use diagnostic tools and troubleshoot mechanical issues.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • CDL and ASE certifications preferred but required.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to work independently.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and perform physically demanding work.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working on trucks, trailers, utility vehicles, or construction equipment preferred.
  • CDL and ASE certifications preferred but required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on diesel-powered vehicles, trucks, trailers, and equipment.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot diesel engines, electrical systems, hydraulic systems, and mechanical issues.
  • Perform repairs including brakes, suspension, steering, engines, transmissions, and other vehicle components.
  • Inspect vehicles and equipment to identify maintenance needs and potential safety concerns.
  • Complete scheduled maintenance, repairs, and emergency service requests as needed.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and repair documentation.
  • Communicate repair needs, equipment status, and recommendations with management.
  • Ensure all work is completed safely and according to company standards.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
