About The Position

Iowa 80 Truckstop is hiring experienced Diesel Mechanics for its high-volume, on-site shop. Mechanics perform preventive maintenance, inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on medium- and heavy-duty trucks and trailers while providing excellent customer service and working safely as part of a team. The position offers pay up to $38.00 per hour based on experience and ASE certifications, commission opportunities, and bonuses for completed ASE certifications. The scheduled shift is 4 p.m. to midnight, with differentials for eligible evening and weekend hours.

Requirements

At least one full year of hands-on experience.
Experience performing preventive maintenance on medium- and heavy-duty trucks and trailers.
Ability to diagnose and repair the listed truck and trailer systems.
Ability to work effectively with a team and provide excellent customer service.
Possess the tools needed to perform repairs within the company's scope of service.
Desire to learn and grow professionally.
Reliable transportation to and from work and a valid driver's license.
Pass a pre-employment background check, physical, and drug test; employees are also subject to random drug testing.

Responsibilities

Provide excellent service to customers.
Complete thorough vehicle inspections and document needed repairs.
Inspect completed work to ensure quality and customer satisfaction.
Communicate professionally and courteously with Service Writers and Parts Counter Advisors.
Follow company safety policies and procedures, work safely, and contribute as part of a team.
Perform preventive maintenance on medium- and heavy-duty trucks and trailers, including oil changes, lubrication, coolant and fluid checks, battery, belt and hose checks, brake inspections, and federal annual DOT inspections.
Diagnose and repair HVAC, starting and charging systems, brakes, engine cooling, exhaust, fuel systems, suspensions and alignments, steering, aftertreatment systems (DEF and DPF), air systems, and electrical systems.
