About The Position

First Student is hiring a Diesel Mechanic in West Coxsackie, NY serving the Coxsackie-Athens School District. As a Technician at First Student, you will play an integral role in ensuring the safety of the children who count on us for a ride to and from school in those classic yellow buses. At First Student, our technicians perform maintenance to ensure our fleet of newer vehicles is safe for road travel. They also use their diagnostic skills to troubleshoot issues needing repair work. Mechanics and technicians are subject to DOT drug testing as a safety-sensitive employee. This role requires English proficiency. Federal, state, and local requirements, including U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, require training, safety communications, company policies, employment documents, and other job-related communications be conducted in English.

Requirements

3 years of experience working with automotive, diesel, electric, or CNG vehicles
A valid driver’s license
A willingness to obtain a CDL (training provided)
A mechanic’s tool set
English proficiency

Performing maintenance on brakes, suspensions, drivetrains, & transmissions
