Safely operate, repair, rebuild and perform maintenance on Company owned or leased heavy duty diesel trucks and equipment including rolling stock to ensure its ability to operate safely. This role involves diagnosing and repairing operational difficulties with heavy-duty diesel trucks, hydraulics, and specialized waste/recycling equipment. It also includes performing routine maintenance and complex repairs on heavy diesel, CNG, gas, and electrically operated vehicles. The position requires planning and scheduling repairs using the M5 planner system, ensuring all necessary parts are procured for a successful maintenance plan. Additionally, the mechanic will accurately complete daily reports, work orders, parts orders, and other required administrative tasks. Ensuring all work is performed in safe conditions and in strict compliance with federal, state/provincial, local laws, and company safety policies is crucial. The role also involves assisting in reviewing mechanical write-ups on equipment, coordinating repair schedules, and aiding in the training and orientation of new team members. Mechanics are expected to possess, provide, and maintain the personal hand and power tools necessary to perform heavy equipment maintenance, while keeping a clean and organized work area.
