About The Position

WM is hiring a Diesel Mechanic to maintain and repair trucks and equipment that serve communities. The role works with modern tools and procedures on diesel equipment and, at some locations, CNG trucks. The normal setting is a repair and maintenance shop at the White Plains, Maryland hauling site, with work both indoors and outdoors. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 5:00 AM to 1:30 PM. The expected base pay is $26–$39 per hour, depending on experience and other factors.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of relevant work experience.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Be over 18 years of age.
• Legally eligible to work in the United States.
• Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Successfully complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen and physical.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose, and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems on vehicles and equipment.
• Estimate time and material costs for vehicle repairs and new parts.
• Perform work within Standard Labor Repair Times (SRTs).
• Respond to emergency breakdown service calls.
• Perform vehicle safety checks.
• Complete required paperwork, document parts usage, and account for repair times.
• Assist senior Mechanics with project work.
• Review, complete, or assign repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area in compliance with Corporate and OSHA standards and follow established safety procedures.
