Under general supervision, performs preventive maintenance services and inspects, diagnoses and repairs vehicles and equipment. This role is responsible for performing repairs and assigned preventive maintenance services, including inspection, diagnosis, and repair of electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems on vehicles and equipment. The position utilizes vehicle computer electronics systems to interpret failure modes, estimates time and material costs, and requisitions new parts. All work must be performed within Standard Repair Times (SRTs). The role also includes performing service calls for emergency breakdowns, conducting safety checks, and completing required paperwork using fleet maintenance software. Additionally, the Diesel Mechanic assists senior mechanics with project work and reviews/completes repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports. A key aspect of the role is maintaining a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate/OSHA Standards and performing all work according to established safety procedures.
