About The Position

Alaska Waste, a Waste Connections company, is looking for a Diesel Mechanic to join the team in Anchorage, AK! Schedule will be a 4-10 swing shift, weekdays. Shift starts at 1:30 pm and ends around 11:30 pm. Pay is starting at $32.50 per hour depending on experience. With regular wage increases. We are offering a $4,500.00 stay on bonus to be paid out over the course of a year. Offering a tool and boot allowance after 90-day probation is over. $1,200 for tools. $200 for boots. Requirements

  • Valid Class D Driver’s License.
  • Ability to read, write, comprehend and communicate in English.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Must provide own personal tools.

Nice To Haves

  • Class B CDL with air brakes endorsement preferred or the ability to obtain in the future required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Welding/fabrication experience is a huge plus!

Responsibilities

  • Perform repairs and assigned preventative maintenance services.
  • Performs inspections, diagnosis, and repair of electrical, hydraulics, suspension, brake and air systems on vehicles and equipment.
  • Utilize vehicle computer electronic systems to interpret failure modes to initiate or assign repairs.
  • Complete required paperwork utilizing fleet maintenance software program associated with repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times.
  • Reviews, completes, or assigns repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.
  • Conducts safety checks on vehicles and equipment.
  • Performs service calls for emergency breakdowns.
  • Maintain a clean, safe work environment in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards.
