About The Position

A Diesel Technician provides service to customers while maintaining exceptional customer service. Work may include cleaning, maintenance, visual inspection, and removal of parts and attachments; installation using appropriate manuals; report writing; disassembly and assembly; parts reuse evaluation; and reconditioning. The role also involves servicing and repairing trucks, engines, and related equipment, attending training, and maintaining positive customer relationships.

Requirements

High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
Five years of experience as a Class 7 and 8 technician in a dealership or related truck service facility.
Current and valid driver's license with a driving record that meets the insurability guidelines set by the company's insurance carrier.

Nice To Haves

Current and valid CDL and medical card as required by the FMVS.

Responsibilities

Provide technical service to vehicles and equipment.
Perform general and detailed repair of trucks, engines, and components.
Overhaul gas or diesel engines.
Install or replace engine and vehicle components, including injectors, pistons, liners, cam shafts, cylinder heads, rod and main bearings, oil pans, clutches, fan hubs, differentials, fifth wheels, brakes, batteries, transmissions, and other parts.
Read job orders and observe and listen to vehicles in operation to determine malfunctions and plan work procedures.
Examine protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices on trucks, and make adjustments as needed.
Lubricate moving parts and drive repaired vehicles to verify conformance to specifications.
Tag warranty parts and returns for the warranty clerk.
Attend training classes and keep abreast of factory technical bulletins.
Develop and maintain positive customer relationships to increase overall customer satisfaction.
Follow other instructions and perform other duties requested by the employee's leader.
