Diesel Mechanic Technician HOURLY PAY RATE
About The Position
A Diesel Technician provides service to customers while maintaining exceptional customer service. Work may include cleaning, maintenance, visual inspection, and removal of parts and attachments; installation using appropriate manuals; report writing; disassembly and assembly; parts-reuse evaluation; and reconditioning. Rush Truck Leasing is a commercial transportation solutions provider offering truck leasing and rental solutions through its Idealease and PacLease partners. This position provides technical service and repair for trucks, engines, equipment, and components, and supports customer satisfaction through professional service and positive customer relationships.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Seven years of experience as a Class 7 and 8 technician in a dealership or related truck service facility.
- Current and valid driver license with a driving record meeting the company insurance carrier’s insurability guidelines.
Nice To Haves
- Current and valid CDL and medical card as required by the FMVS; preferred but not required.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical service to vehicles and equipment.
- Perform general and detailed repair of trucks, engines, and components.
- Overhaul gas or diesel engines.
- Install or replace injectors, pistons, liners, cam shafts, cylinder heads, rod and main bearings, oil pans, clutches, fan hubs, differentials, fifth wheels, brakes, batteries, transmissions, and other parts.
- Read job orders and observe and listen to vehicles in operation to determine malfunctions and plan work procedures.
- Examine protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices on trucks, making adjustments as needed.
- Lubricate moving parts and drive repaired vehicles to verify conformance to specifications.
- Tag warranty parts and returns for the warranty clerk.
- Attend training classes and keep abreast of factory technical bulletins.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with customers to increase overall customer satisfaction.
- Perform other duties or follow other instructions requested by the employee’s leader.
