This role combines hands -on mechanical expertise with frontline leadership. The right candidate takes ownership of fleet performance, mentors developing technicians, and ensures full regulatory compliance without compromise. Equipment reliability drives operational success. The Diesel Technician Lead ensures that vehicles are not just repaired, they are mission -ready. This leader protects safety, develops technicians, and sets the standard for mechanical excellence in Geneva, NY. Requirements

  • Must have served in the U.S. Army, U.S. Navy, U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Air Force, U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Space Force, U.S. Reserves, or U.S. National Guard.
  • 5+ years of experience in operations, production, or logistics leadership.
  • Baseline Skills: Mechanical aptitude, ability to read schematics, understanding of diesel systems.
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum 18 years of age
  • CDL Class B with air brake endorsement
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
  • Minimum 1 year clean CDL driving experience
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States
  • Ownership beyond assigned tasks, sees the whole operation, not just the work order
  • Systems thinking. identifies root causes, not surface symptoms
  • Comfort leading peers while remaining hands -on
  • Strong communication and coaching ability
  • Commitment to safety as a non -negotiable standard
  • Professionalism inside the shop and in cross -department coordination
  • Lift heavy components regularly
  • Push, pull, crouch, climb, and stand for extended periods
  • Work in both garage/shop environments and outdoor weather conditions

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain a preventive maintenance program that ensures vehicles operate safely, efficiently, and with minimal downtime.
  • Prioritize, delegate, and oversee complex mechanical repairs while coaching technicians to execute work safely and correctly the first time.
  • Maintain full DOT compliance across equipment and documentation while reinforcing a safety -first culture inside and outside the shop.
  • Conduct ongoing performance analysis to maximize equipment utilization and immediately correct deficiencies.
  • Partner with leadership to build career pathways, train apprentices and B -level technicians, and actively support advancement within the maintenance team.
  • Ensure accurate, complete maintenance records for every asset using fleet management systems.
  • Perform or oversee inspection, troubleshooting, repair, rebuild, or replacement of: Engines and engine components, Transmissions and drive lines, Brakes, suspension, steering systems, Hydraulics and PTO systems, Electrical, charging, and ignition systems, Cooling and fuel systems, HVAC systems, Tires, rims, hubs, and related assemblies
