About The Position

The Diesel/Auto Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for performing repairs on forklifts, pallet jacks, fire fans, automobiles, and Diesel Trucks. This includes rebuilding transmissions, rear ends, and motors, covering all facets of automotive repair. The role requires the ability to work overtime and weekends as needed, possess strong communication skills, and maintain a good attendance record. The position also demands the physical ability to use hands, legs, and feet to work on all equipment, bend, twist, turn, walk, and stand for the duration of the shift. Safety and food safety standards are paramount, and the mechanic must comply with Tyson policies, food safety requirements, OSHA regulations, and plant procedures.

Requirements

  • Valid State Driver's License.
  • Official MVR record must be checked post-offer and received by Tyson before applicant will be moved into position.
  • 18 years of age.
  • No DUI/DWI’s within the last 12 months.
  • 6 months work history in the last 12 months documented within application’s work history and/or resume.
  • Knowledge to repair forklifts, pallet jacks, and fire fans, automobiles, Diesel Trucks.
  • Knowledge to repair trucks, rebuild transmissions, rear ends, motors, all facets of the automotive.
  • Ability to work overtime and weekends if needed.
  • Ability to read, write and have a basic knowledge of math.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Must have and maintain a good attendance work record.
  • Must have the use of hands, legs, and feet as to be able to work on all equipment as needed.
  • Ability to bend, twist, turn, etc.
  • Ability to walk and stand for the duration of the shift.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with or without assistance.
  • Ability to work in cold, wet, or humid conditions typical of a fresh plant.
  • Must be available to work assigned shifts.

Nice To Haves

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Prior machine operation or food production experience preferred.
  • Experience operating bagging or packaging equipment a plus.
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to learn equipment operation.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Basic math and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong commitment to safety and food safety standards.
