This role is for a Second Shift Die Set Technician / Stamping Press Operator. The position maintains the responsibilities and essential functions of a Die Set Technician, requiring complete knowledge of die setting, press parameters, and the ability to initiate press production runs from a complete shutdown condition to a continuous mode. The operator will perform quality inspection checks, First Off/Last Off inspections, and all 'Inspection Strategy' procedures. Responsibilities include transporting dies, performing die setups, and changing dies in the transfer press according to the production schedule, as well as performing and verifying all rail setups. The technician will install, position, and align dies on the bolster, and train part packers on their job functions. A key aspect of the role is maximizing each job/die's potential while in the press. The technician will initiate, recommend, or provide solutions through documented Team discussions and improvement events to optimize transfer press utilization. Detailed documentation of all die and/or press issues is required, along with communication of these issues to the Press Improvement Teams. The role involves close collaboration with the Press Improvement Team, Tool & Die, and Maintenance departments to optimize press utilization, changeover time, and press and die repairs. Specific adjustments such as gripper adjustments, end stop adjustments, and coil feed parameters are required to minimize press downtime. The technician will also perform small maintenance repairs as needed, strictly adhere to all safety regulations, maintain excellent housekeeping habits, and perform other essential functions as assigned.
