The Die Changeover Specialist is responsible for demonstrating proficiency with automatic equipment, forklifts, and overhead cranes. This role involves setting, changing, troubleshooting, removing, and installing die sections, as well as cleaning stamping dies. The specialist will proactively apply knowledge to improve equipment and processes. Key duties include changing components within the die, removing and installing die sections, working with T and D for tool sharpening, troubleshooting forming and punch issues, performing tooling changes according to schedules, and conducting preventative maintenance. The role also involves assembling components to precise tolerances, verifying correct dies are used per customer specifications, identifying and responding to nonconforming parts, completing die setup sheets, and developing die process sheets. The specialist will support Die Setters, train others as needed, and collaborate with planners and schedulers to ensure dies are ready for production. Effective communication with management is crucial for planning and addressing potential issues. The role also requires monitoring press, tooling, and secondary systems during manufacturing. Consistent attendance, including overtime when necessary, is an essential duty.
