About The Position

Performs a variety of technical procedures that require the application of non-ionizing, high frequency ultrasonic waves for diagnosis of disease.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited Ultrasound Technology program.
• One of the following credentials: Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS), Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS), Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS), Advanced Cardiac Sonographer (ACS), Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT), or Registered Vascular Sonographer (RVS).
• Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, physics of diagnostic ultrasound.
• Familiarity with pertinent medical/surgical disease.
• Previous ultrasound technologist experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepares patient for examination, including positioning and explaining procedures.
• Performs ultrasound procedures, ensuring proper views, images, and techniques are employed.
• Obtains and correlates radiological and diagnostic exam reports with ultrasound scans.
• Monitors patient condition during the examination and reports any changes to the physician.
• Maintains records and logs exams performed, including documenting slice location and labeling studies.
• Performs minor repairs and calibration checks on ultrasound equipment, troubleshooting and reporting major issues.
• Maintains inventory and purchases supplies for the assigned area, checking purchase order requisitions and reviewing stock levels.
• Performs related duties as required.
