About The Position

As a Dialysis Tech, you provide dialysis treatment with careful attention to detail and a compassionate, patient-focused approach. The role supports the care of patients receiving dialysis and works under the direction of a Registered Nurse. The position is located at 75 Genesee St., Rochester, NY 14611, in the Dialysis department, with a listed schedule of 0530–1800.

Requirements

• Obtain Dialysis Technician National Certification within 18 months of hire.
• At least 1 year of experience in patient care or as an EMT.
• Compassionate, warm, patient-focused approach.
• Decisive judgment and ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Strong computer skills and attention to detail.
• Exceptional communication skills and professional behavior.

Responsibilities

• Set up and deliver dialysis treatments.
• Cannulate fistulas or grafts.
• Obtain blood samples and culture specimens.
• Calculate fluid removal based on the nursing assessment.
• Respond to treatment complications and inspect and evaluate dialysis access sites under the direction of the Registered Nurse.
• Monitor patients’ vital signs during treatment and record observations and interventions in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
• Report changes in patient status to the Registered Nurse when appropriate.
• Retrieve lab results when necessary.
