About The Position

The Dialysis Patient Care Technician works under the direct supervision of a licensed professional nurse to carry out technical and patient-care activities. The technician provides care to dialysis patients, operates equipment used in their treatment, and delivers prescribed dialysis according to physician orders, nursing assessment, and Pure Life Renal policies and procedures. The role is part-time and scheduled Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Dialysis experience required.
Certification as a hemodialysis technician through a nationally accepted certification exam.
Successfully complete CPR certification.
Meet the necessary requirements of Ishihara’s Color Blindness test as a condition of employment.
Good verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

Provide direct patient care for assigned patients.
Perform the technical aspects of dialysis procedures as prescribed, and administer and monitor treatments in accordance with current treatment orders or supervisor direction.
Monitor and document dialysis treatment notes in the electronic medical record according to policy.
Report significant information, changes in patient condition, and equipment problems.
Assist with emergency operational procedures, initiate basic CPR in the event of cardiac or pulmonary arrest, and respond to emergencies.
Operate dialysis-related equipment according to policy and procedure, and provide minor troubleshooting when necessary.
Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary environment in the dialysis treatment area.
Operate emergency equipment effectively and according to policy and procedure.
Participate in scheduled staff meetings, in-service classes, and continuing education.
Provide outstanding customer service to internal and external customers and maintain effective relationships through appropriate and timely communication.
Perform other duties as assigned.
