Diagnostic Radiology Technician
About The Position
The Bowling Green VA Clinic, part of the Tennessee Valley Healthcare System, is seeking a Diagnostic Radiology Technician. This role involves providing diagnostic imaging radiologic services in Radiography in a competent and professional manner. The technician will perform diagnostic imaging procedures, accurately position patients, and ensure quality diagnostic images are produced. They will work closely with radiologists and ordering providers to aid in diagnosing diseases and injuries. The position requires maintaining radiology supplies inventory and operating imaging equipment. The technician will also be responsible for preparing patients for radiological procedures, gaining patient cooperation by reducing anxieties, providing explanations, and answering questions.
Requirements
- Associate's or bachelor's degree from a diagnostic radiologic technology program.
- Two years' experience as a diagnostic radiologic technician.
- Must be licensed to practice radiography.

- Prior VA experience is desirable.
Responsibilities
- Provide diagnostic imaging radiologic services in Radiography, in a competent and professional manner assigned by the Supervisor of Medical Imaging Services.
- Provide services at dates and times assigned by the Supervisor.
- Provide emergency coverage when short-staffed as assigned.
- Perform diagnostic imaging procedures, such as Radiologic examinations.
- Accurately position patients and ensure that a quality diagnostic image is produced.
- Work closely with radiologists, the physicians who interpret medical images to either diagnose or rule out disease or injury.
- Provides information to diagnose patient illnesses by operating radiologic equipment to produce radiographs.
- Maintains radiology supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; and verifying receipt of supplies.
- Maintaining and operating imaging equipment.
- Gains patient cooperation by reducing anxieties, providing explanations of treatment, and answering questions.
- Prepares patient for radiological procedures by positioning patient, adjusting immobilization devices, moving equipment into a specified position, and adjusting equipment controls to set exposure factors.
- Performs imaging examinations that will be responsible for accurately positioning patients and ensuring that a quality diagnostic image is produced.
- Works closely with radiologists, ordering providers to assist in diagnosing diseases and injuries.
