The physicist will oversee the safety, calibration, testing, and performance of imaging systems including mammography, CT, MRI, and fluoroscopy units. The role also includes quality assurance responsibilities, staff education, and supporting technology procurements. Serve as the technical expert in radiation safety, equipment calibration, and diagnostic accuracy. Perform diagnostic equipment surveys, data analysis, reporting, and equipment quality control. Collaborate with radiologists, technologists, and leadership to ensure compliance with regulatory standards. Conduct acceptance testing and routine performance surveys for imaging systems: X-ray, CT, MRI, mammography, ultrasound, fluoroscopy, and C-arm devices. Ensure compliance with FDA, MQSA, and Joint Commission standards. Develop and maintain quality control programs for digital radiography (DR) and PACS systems. Perform mammography physics services across the National Capital Region. Educate radiology staff and residents on radiation safety, technology, and proper equipment usage. Prepare technical specifications and evaluate vendor proposals for new imaging systems. Support documentation for regulatory audits, including reports and data logs. Travel to remote sites within the National Capital Region for equipment testing and surveys. Monitor and document calibration activities and initiate maintenance or follow-up actions. Participate in department meetings, quality improvement projects, and staff development. Assist with CPT coding and billing data for physics services.
