Diagnostic Medical Sonographer DMS - Instructor (Part-time)
About The Position

We are seeking dedicated Diagnostic Medical Sonographers to join our Phoenix faculty and mentor aspiring ultrasound professionals. We currently have multiple 20-hour shifts available (Mornings or Afternoons), offering excellent schedule flexibility to complement your clinical work or personal life. To ensure comprehensive instruction across our core curriculum, candidates must possess at least two (2) of the following three registry concentrations: Abdomen (AB), Vascular (RVT/VS), or Obstetrics & Gynecology (OB/GYN). Requirements
- Associate’s degree from an academic institution accredited by an agency recognized by the USDE or CHEA.
- Minimum of three (3) years of occupational (practical) experience as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer / Ultrasound Technologist.
- Active Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) registration from ARDMS.
- Must hold at least two (2) of the following active registries: Abdomen (AB), Vascular Technology (RVT / VS), Obstetrics & Gynecology (OB/GYN).
- Current license or credential as required by local, state, or federal regulations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) and computer applications.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and deliver engaging lectures and practical hands-on demonstrations for classroom and lab instruction.
- Implement daily lesson plans, scheduled activities, and instructional materials aligned with program objectives.
- Arrange guest speakers, community field trips, and educational visits to local imaging centers and medical clinics.
- Demonstrate proper lab procedures, positioning, and scanning techniques; supervise and mentor students during scanning labs.
- Enforce strict laboratory safety, ergonomics, sanitation, and infection control standards.
- May assist with coordinating and supervising student clinical externship placements.
- Monitor student success rates, meet with at-risk students, and implement interventions to maintain an 80%+ student success rate.
- Monitor daily attendance, prepare weekly reports, and collaborate with Student Services if a student's course grade average falls below 77% or if absences occur.
- Grade assignments and exams, maintain student records, and prepare final grades at the end of each sequence.
- Maintain office hours during your shift block to advise, tutor, and guide students.
