About The Position

Shape the future of sonography education at Pima Medical Institute! We are seeking an experienced Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer to serve as Clinical Director for our Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMS) program at our Tucson campus. In this high-impact academic leadership role, you will bridge the gap between classroom theory and real-world clinical practice. You will pioneer new clinical partnerships across local medical facilities, manage student clinical placements, instruct core curriculum, and mentor the next generation of skilled sonographers.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree from an accredited institution recognized by the USDE or CHEA (Bachelor’s degree preferred).
  • Active Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) credential in good standing through ARDMS.
  • Active specialty credential(s) in Abdomen (AB) and/or Obstetrics & Gynecology (OB/GYN).
  • Minimum of three (3) years of full-time professional experience as a Sonographer (General, Cardiac, Pediatric Cardiac, and/or Vascular).
  • Demonstrated proficiency in instructional methodologies, student supervision, and learning assessment.
  • Active state licensure or credentials as required by local, state, or federal laws.
  • Excellent communication skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

  • Identify, secure, and evaluate new clinical education sites and contractual agreements with regional healthcare partners.
  • Conduct student clinical orientations, visit clinical affiliates regularly to assess student progress, and collaborate with site instructors to ensure educational quality.
  • Develop clinical learning objectives, establish site assignment schedules, and coordinate competency evaluations.
  • Prepare lesson plans, instruct courses in DMS methods and techniques, and serve as a core classroom or lab instructor.
  • Monitor student clinical logs, radiation exposure records, and practical skill evaluations.
  • Coordinate clinical and didactic education plans, recommending curriculum enhancements to the Program Director.
  • Track student academic progress and implement support plans to maintain an 80%+ student success rate.
  • Maintain accurate student academic records and prepare final semester grades according to institutional policies.
