About The Position

This role provides assistance to the Diagnostic Imaging technologist, performing administrative tasks, transporting patients, and maintaining equipment cleanliness. The position requires the ability to work independently, communicate effectively with various staff and patients, prioritize workload, and take direction. The aide must be able to work with all age groups, understand body mechanics, and have reliable transportation. A key aspect of the role involves patient care and performing tasks specific to the patient's age and developmental level.

Requirements

  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology (within 6 months) and anatomy to provide assistance to the Diagnostic Imaging technologist.
  • Ability to work independently without constant supervision.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with patients, physicians, nursing and technical staff and others they may come into contact with, in a pleasant and constructive manner.
  • Ability to prioritize workload to meet needs of in-house and outpatient requesters in a timely manner.
  • Ability to take direction from lead, manager or director regarding work activities and procedures.
  • Ability to transport and work with all age groups.
  • Good knowledge of body mechanics.
  • Successful completion of on-the-job training program or applicable experience and demonstrated competence.
  • Reliable transportation.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy to provide assistance to the radiologic technologist.

Responsibilities

  • Perform administrative tasks such as data entry, copying, faxing, and filing.
  • Transport patients to and from diagnostic and treatment areas according to designated methods and schedules.
  • Ensure nurses are notified prior to patient transport and upon return to the nursing floor.
  • Maintain cleanliness of portable equipment in the department and surgery.
  • Assist department personnel as required in a positive and professional manner.
  • Maintain adequate records as directed.
  • Handle equipment in a responsible, professional manner.
  • Promote a positive work environment by establishing good working relationships with co-workers, hospital staff, and outside contacts.
  • Effectively communicate with all personnel.
  • Promote an honest, direct approach to problem-solving and communication of concerns.
  • Be proactive and work well in a team environment to resolve conflicts.
  • Maintain a professional appearance according to the Dress and Grooming Policy.
  • Maintain competency in all position responsibilities.
