About The Position

Under Sunwing Vacations, we are looking for a Manager, DevOps to join us in making vacation dreams come true. As the Manager, DevOps you will be responsible for defining, implementing, and evolving DevOps practices, platforms, and processes to enable reliable, scalable, and efficient software delivery across the organization. In this role, you will act as a technical and operational leader, ensuring strong alignment between Development, Infrastructure, QA, and Product teams, while driving automation, standardization, and continuous improvement. You will also ensure that CI/CD pipelines, environment management, release processes, and operational practices enable high-quality and predictable delivery outcomes. The position reports to the Director, Application Development and will be located in Toronto, ON.

Requirements

  • Expert understanding of DevOps principles, practices, and culture
  • Strong experience with CI/CD tools (Azure DevOps, pipelines, build/release automation)
  • Strong experience with cloud platforms (Azure preferred)
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, ARM, Bicep or similar)
  • Strong understanding of release management, branching strategies, and deployment models
  • Experience with environment management and complex multi-team delivery landscapes
  • Strong understanding of monitoring and observability tools (e.g., Dynatrace)
  • Strong knowledge of platform and infrastructure concepts (Networking, Load Balancing, Security, Servers, VMs)
  • Strong scripting and automation skills (PowerShell, Bash, or similar)
  • Experience working in Agile / Scrum environments
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills across application, infrastructure, and deployment pipelines
  • 7-10+ years of DevOps experience, with at least 1-3+ years of Leadership experience preferred

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes) is an asset

Responsibilities

  • Define and lead the organization’s overall DevOps strategy, standards, and best practices
  • Own and optimize CI/CD platforms (e.g., Azure DevOps) to ensure scalable, consistent delivery
  • Drive adoption of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automation across environments
  • Enable development teams with reusable pipelines, templates, and efficient tooling
  • Align DevOps practices with Architecture and Infrastructure standards
  • Evaluate and introduce new tools to improve delivery speed and quality
  • Establish and enforce release management practices (branching, deployments, quality gates)
  • Ensure CI/CD pipelines align with SDLC and Agile delivery processes
  • Coordinate releases across teams, managing dependencies and ensuring production readiness
  • Continuously improve delivery metrics like deployment frequency and failure rates
  • Oversee environment management (dev, test, staging, prod) including provisioning and governance
  • Ensure system reliability through monitoring, incident management, and operational automation
  • Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing DevOps team while supporting hiring and development
